The Mountain Quest Research Center is part of the Mountain Quest Institute situated in the Monongahela Forest of the West Virginia Allegheny Mountains. The research center supports the three MQI quests: the Quest for Knowledge, the Quest for Consciousness, and the Quest for Meaning.

The Mountain Quest Library, sitting at the foot of the mountains, raises centuries of knowledge and wisdom to a higher accessible level, enabling inquiry of the human ability to conceive and create in all reaches of human experience. The answer to our quest for knowledge is not buried here or there, partly hidden over in this corner and partly hidden over there. It is resident in a kaleidoscope of insights, represented in dozens of shelves and a multitude of disciplines, sciences, and fields of inquiry.

The vantage point is consilience, the aggregation point of synergy across seemingly disparate, but causal relationships. Consilience means a “jumping together” of knowledge through the dynamic linking of facts and fact-based theories across disciplines to create a common groundwork of explanation. Thus, the more than 40,000 volumes representing the evolving human existence offer an insightful blending of thought in the search for what is needed to progress beyond humankind’s current capacities and existence. The issues we face today demand that we use all of our resources—all of our understanding across a myriad of fields of learning—to produce a clearer view of reality.

MQ research teams include colleagues from around the world to ensure diversity of thought and facilitate deeper learning.
